An official Census 2011 detail of Araria, a district of Bihar has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Bihar. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Araria District of Bihar.
In 2011, Araria had population of 2,806,200 of which male and female were 1,460,878 and 1,345,322 respectively. There was change of 30.00 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Araria District recorded increase of 31.84 percent to its population compared to 1991.
The initial provisional data suggest a density of 992 in 2011 compared to 763 of 2001. Total area under Araria district is of about 2,830 sq.km.
Average literacy rate of Araria in 2011 were 55.10 compared to 35.01 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 64.15 and 45.18 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 46.38 and 22.37 in Araria District. Total literate in Araria District were 1,235,303 of which male and female were 751,900 and 483,403 respectively. In 2001, Araria District had 589,679 in its total region.
With regards to Sex Ratio in Araria, it stood at 921 per 1000 male compared to 2001 census figure of 913. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate.
In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected for all districts including Araria. There were total 564,131 children under age of 0-6 against 474,181 of 2001 census. Of total 564,131 male and female were 288,728 and 275,403 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 954 compared to 963 of census 2001. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 20.10 percent of Araria District compared to 21.97 percent of 2001. There was net change of -1.87 percent in this compared to previous census of India.
Araria District population constituted 2.70 percent of total Bihar population. In 2001 census, this figure for Araria District was at 2.70 percent of Bihar population.
